Does anyone know or have this Transmission Down Shift Problem
Does anyone have or heard of this Problem?
My wife drives a 2012 F-150 XLT 5.0L we got brand new. It has been in the shop several times to look into this problem, but after all said and done there was no problem. Started having problems at 8,000 miles and now were at 56,000 and the problems are getting worse. There are no codes that come up and we take the truck and get the Transmission set to relearn.
My wife can be cruising down the road with or without cruise control and all of a sudden the transmission will shift from 6 down to a 4. Scares my wife because the RPM's will jump up to slows the truck down and then after its cycle it will return to normal while the Transmission is shifting normal going up. This really scares my wife cause we've been having a wet spring and winter, and we live in an area that has lots of curves and deep embankments and the Transmission downshifted again and put her in a spin.
If anyone has had this problem and resolved this please let me know.

There have been some complaints that I remember but I don't remember any of this magnitude. This is concerning for your families safety. I'm not exactly sure how to handle this but I know I wouldn't let the case die. I'd make the dealer keep the case open so it can get repaired when a code does present itself.

I've been fighting with ford customer relations on this and the keep closing the case. There are no codes that come up and had several mechanics verify that the problem exists but no one knows where the problem pertains too. I agree with it being a Saftey issue and I CAN NOT lose another family member in another accident because of a Saftey issue.
Its going to be a faulty output shaft speed sensor.thats what mine was. The sensor loses signal and the truck downshifts abruptly. The sensor is mounted to the molded electronics on the valve body.
That does seem and sounds feasible with that issue. Would Ford be able to detect that issue and replace that when something is wrong. Would that sensor throw out a code too?
