Check engine or wrench light? Did you step through the basic set-up on the ScanGauge? All the Xgauges seem to work ok? There is a diesel A and a diesel B option, diesel A is the one you want.
Unfortunately the ScanGauge isn't a great code reader. There are some of the codes it just won't read.
You should be able to see how many codes are set with this code. Not a big help I know. You'll probably need to scan it with a different device.
Awesomeness thanks yall i had to get towed home last night and worked on it today and all i probably need to take it to a proper mechanic when i get a chance

Wow! I just plugged this in to my scan gauge and got the number 5. What's the best way to pul these codes. Can some place like auto zone do it or should I go somewhere else? I scan for codes with the scan gauge I I but guess it doesn't do a very good job!
Yup, most of the auto parts stores will scan for free but it depends on the quality of the device they use if they see all the codes. You're the second person to get way more codes than they expected, it's possible this XGauge isn't working correctly on your truck due to the flash version. It's also possible these are "soft" codes. With some errors the PCM must see it more than once before turning on the CEL. Commonly 3 times. The soft code is the PCM keeping a count of how many times the fault condition has happened.
If the truck is running well and the CEL isn't on I wouldn't sweat it but I would also be curious to know if this DTC "count" is correct.

Well finally got time to swing into Auto Zone. The 5 DTC that the scan gauge showed was correct.
Showed a EGR code. (Deleted but still plugged in)
MAF/MAP. (when I changed the ficm I forgot to plug MAF back in for test drive?)
Turbo boost (vanes where stuck. Turbo cleaned and working good. I can now here vanes cycling)
Now for the bad news.
Cylinder 5 and 6 contribution/ balance.
Truck has had a miss and lower power for a couple weeks. Would it be a good idea to take it to the Ford house for a full contribution test to check for other suspect injectors? I hate to rip it apart only to have to do it again soon. It has 140k miles. 03 F350
Well, it does cost a few bucks but Fords IDS is the best way to check out the injectors. Someone posted that Forscan, a free "beta" diag program, had been updated and has some new features. I've downloaded the latest version and will report back if it has any cool new injector tests. Glad the trucks on the road to recovery and thanks for verifying the ScanGauge code was working correctly!

That would be great, let me know what you find out. Is that avalible for android also or just iphone. Seems I remember reading autoenginuity won't really work, is that right?
AutoEnginuity works but it can't turn off the compensation like IDS can. I've read a couple times the graph goes off the screen if you rev the engine while you're monitoring, I'm not sure if that's a limitation of the program or just a "learning curve" thing on the operators part.
On the ForScan, I've been playing with it today and it does a good bit of stuff but no graphing the injectors while it's running. It will do a buzz test and on my truck it showed fault codes for two cylinders I didn't know was there. If you go to the download site they list a version for Windows, Android and Apple. For the price (free ) it's well worth checking out.
On my truck I also found this for example:
Top (red) trace is FICM logic power, middle is main, and bottom (blue) is FICM vpower. Looks like I'm getting 45v for just a second every two minutes or so with the truck hot. Not ok . I don't stare at the ScanGauge when I'm driving so I've only seen the drops to 46v. Nice to have a graph that nails it. The vertical white bar can be drug around the graph to show the actual number at the point where you place it. Pretty cool.
Anyway, if you have an obdii adapter for your android, I'd give this a shot. A Windows laptop would be better tho, the extra room on the screen would have to make it easier to read.
On the glitch at the end, I flipped the key off to kill the engine and then right back on. Interesting the FICM main power continued to read while the other two dropped as expected.
Rusty on the IDS/VCM you can go out for a drive while recording the
injector screens. I have done that when the road was clear so I could
get an idea if it could be done or not. From what I had heard the AE is
still smoothing out the injector data. So if you have an injector that's
dropping you may not see it.
On the SGII setup I don't recall seeing the diesel 1 or 2 option. Can I
rerun the setup without wiping out all my Xguages?
I'm not positive Sean, but I think you can step through the set up without loosing your existing xGauges. If it's working for you it's probably set right already.
Hey, not to hijack but what do you think about my fvp and flp squirming around by .5v like that?
Not really sure about why it would do that. Would help to watch it on a
lab scope because it could just be the A/D conversion or the rate. It could
even be real and the system just does that.
