Greetings all.
I have a new 302 installed in my 1950 F-1. My problem is that I have to rotate the distributor so far clockwise to get it to start that the front of it it interferes with the radiator hose , etc. It would seem that I have the distributor gear off by at least a gear. My question is which way should reset the distributor gear or rotor to get the distributor back to a normal position?? The rotor rotates CCW when running.
Thanks.
Since the rotor turns CCW when turning, and you have been turning the distributor body CW to get near correct timing, you want the two to meet sooner. Therefore, you want the phase of the rotor to be advanced of its current position; you should move the rotor shaft in the CCW direction.
