I have a 2002 Ford F150XL. 4.2L engine. Engine has just under 220,000 miles on it. Runs great except my problem. I always do maintenance when due. About 3 years ago I did the valve cover to correct a lean issue that is common with this engine. Other then that this truck has never had any major issues. Just normal vehicle maintenance and changing of battery, alternator, brakes etc. Truck has been very good to me. Recently I noticed a light tapping. It only occurs if I try to accelerate kind of fast. Normal driving, normal acceleration, highway driving, city driving it is quiet and smooth. But from a dead stop or from a slow pace, if I give it gas fast it taps lightly. So I don't. I take it easy on it. Seems like lifters are tapping or something in that area. Any suggestions or instructions on how to adjust would be greatly appreciated. Look forward to hearing from you guys.
