Just recently purchased a F-150 XLT 4X4 with a V-8 5.4 Triton engine. The problem is, when you turn the engine off, there are loud pinging and cracking noises coming from the engine. Anybody know if this is normal for this size engine or do I have a major problem going on? It sounds too loud to be just an engine cooling down. Thanks for the help.
sounds normal to me. I would wait and see if it
is actually a problem. I recently had my 98 dualed
out (exhaust). Until the metal calmed down it sounded like someone was beating the headpipes with a ball peen hammer. About a month or so later
it has almost gone away completely. you didn't
mention if it was a 2000 model or not, though
