I've had this happen from both of the above mentioned issues.
The high beam switch is the easier and cheaper of the two fixes. They cost around $5 - $10 and take 15 minutes to switch out. Two screws hold it to the floor.
The headlight switch requires removing the dash, which can be tricky. The hardest part is actually removing the ***** from the headlight and windshield washer switches. There's a tiny tab on the back (location is marked by a notch on the back of the **** itself). You need to get a little hook of some kind to press it while you pull on the **** to get them off. Afterward, replacing the switch is plug and play.
Both are inexpensive enough that'd I'd replace both. Your headlights going out is not a good thing. Been there, done that, in the middle of nowhere at 2am during a new moon... You need your headlights!
