Thanks for all the suggestions on my massive miss post but since I'm tempted to 'borrow' MAP sensor from running truck..
wondering why the potential DONOR 91 f150 4wd straight 6 NEEDS 3 quick hits on the starter to actually start. The truck I hate to steal parts from.
BTW I simply unplugged the MAP sensor on the offending ford and it still, wait, started and ran PERfectly. Hi idle wich calmed down when I replugged in the MAP wires.
May or not mean anything but f it runs with the MAP unplugged, I don't have to walk home>
(I'm a cane, crutch kinda old geezer and walking is the last thing I want to do.)
You can crank it till the battery goes dead...but hit the starter 2x for a second or 2 each and it WILL start and run on the 3rd hit, 10 seconds total crank time.
Used to start immediately and idle like a sewing machine. This 3x start is new.
A bad ignition module can have no spark in crank mode and have spark in run. Check for spark while cranking and see if you get a couple sparks as you release the key to the run position.

Thank you for that.
I have a couple trucks that WILL start if you let OFF the key when they crank but this isw a little different.
