I would do it if your engine is not original and a lot of things have been taken off and modified. If it's all original and all the hoses and wires are good and hooked up, I would not convert it.

All the parts are original, but my dad was the one who worked on it before me and he was big into disabling all the emission control stuff. So there are a lot of wires and vacuum hoses that have just been cut off or are missing.
I just was digging around yesterday and was trying to figure out what some of the cut vacuum wires were and discovered the secondary air supply by-pass valve and been completely disabled.
I would definitely do it. It's pretty straight forward and will simplify a lot under the hood. I picked up an inline 6 from a 1986 Ford pickup to put into my 66 pickup. I removed all the emissions, put in DSII, and picked up a simple Carter YF for 50 bucks on Ebay to run on it. Runs great.
Roadrash posted some pics in this thread of the before and after of his truck
If you have stuff cut up, the DSII will improve your power and fuel mileage, the engine is not running as well as it could with that stuff missing.
I have heard but have no actual proof, that if your original setup was all hooked up and working like it should(all controls, computer, etc) that it is the best fuel mileage setup the 300 ever had, even better than the later fuel injection. But it's a little hard to deal with, you really have to educate yourself on the system and how it works.
So for ease of use, would you suggest I convert to DSII? Taking into account that going the stock route means I'll have to be replacing a lot of those parts
I bought an 84 f150 for the cab and bed to put on my f250 that is rusted out.
the 300 6 did not run do to the eec computer which is known to fail.
I wanted to be able to move the truck and possibly sell the engine and transmission to recoup some of the money spent on the truck so I did the conversion.it is plug and play with harness, coil, box and distributor from the local u pull it. I did not change the carb.
you may have the same computer problem my truck had.
