I lost my horn and cruise control awhile back, when my column bearing went out on me. I since replaced those and steering is great but still have no horn or cruise through the wheel. When I have the wheel off I can short the upper column housing to the lowest prong (copper brush) and the horn will go off. I am wondering if the buttons go bad on the wheel or the 3 copper rings on the back of the wheel go bad?. If anyone has had this problem I would apreciate the help. Again the horn works at the top of the column but with the wheel on there is nothing.

It sounds like you might be missing the ground wire that gives you the horn and all that mess. I know I had trouble with mine about a year ago and it was due to the ground wire not grounding. I'll see if i get enough time tomorrow to maybe pop mine open and explain what I mean better.

Would that be the black wire that with a metal blade that connects to the ignition?
Would that be the black wire that with a metal blade that connects to the ignition?
I think so, i remember with mine it was a black wire that came off the steering cover and the way it was set up for me was that someone shoved that bladed terminal into the threaded portion of the steering wheel where you would put your bolts in for a steering wheel puller.
That bladed connector im talking about looked like it was part of the three prong copper piece on the column (that mounts just under the steering shaft.)
So that blade piece is broken and loos in the column. It is the one own the black wire. So I would assume that would be the ground, but it's was connected to the ignition tumbler. So I am completely confused. (Electrical stuff is outside my realm of comprehension)
So I grounded that black wire with the screw that holds the three prong sweeping contact. And still no horn button on the wheel. Still works if I use a screw drive and contact the prong and column at the same time. Are there any other grounds I need to be looking at?
