Ok, so here is my issue.....My power windows work intermittently. Sometimes they work, other times they don't. All windows, either work or don't work. It doesn't matter if I try the windows from the main switch at the driver door or from each door I get the same thing. Here is the twist, when the windows stop working the inside dome light stops working as well and the rear windshield wiper stops. I sat in the vehicle with the door open, not running and the dome light would come on then a short while later go off, then come back on. The Explorer wasn't running and I wasn't moving but it was being taken over by demons. All of the other electronics work. When the dome light comes on I can hear a click (like a relay) below the steering wheel and then the power windows and rear wiper work. We have had a lot of rain in the past 2 weeks in NC and I had a leak around the window on the passenger side in the back compartment and I found a little water on the back wheel well inside. This problem has been going on for a week. Is their a relay that controls these functions? If so where is it? If not do you have any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this?

 

It sounds a bit like the accessory delay relay may be acting up. Does the radio continue to work? How about the power locks, do they work when the other items stop working? What happens if you close and re-open the the driver's door? Any difference if you close and open the passenger door?

Thanks Rod. The locks and radio work all of the time. Closing the drivers door has no effect on the issue. I have not tried the passenger door when it is going flakey. Where is that relay?
