first time poster. I have a 1997 F250 Powerstroke automatic.
PSOM gone bad. Can I just change speedometer, and use 1996 -1997 from either gas or diesel, or any other previous year.

One note: you will end up with the milage of the donor speedo
I added 10k miles to my 97!when I changed PSOM /speedo
Unless you swap the EEPROM over... then you can keep your mileage. Requires good soldering skills and of course your current EEPROM must still be operable.

You do not have to solder. Just read the information from your old PSOM's EEPROM into your home computer and then send the information to the replacement PSOM's EEPROM.
Just requires a EEPROM reader/burner hooked to your home computer running XP OR 7.
Yes I use Linux also but the software for the EPROM read and burner only runs on XP & 7 and older Micro$oft OS. I have 7 also but a lot of my stuff does not run on 7.
You can also change the change number of changes with the EPROM burner back to 6.
Then you can just copy the rest of the data over to the working PSOM.
