E4oD issue, sluggish take off Help
I am a shade tree mechanic trained by my father who I would normally consult on this but he is no longer turning wrenches here, God rest his soul.
I have a 92 F150 5.0 L with tow package and twin tanks. I have had the truck since June and it has been in the shop three of the last four months trying to get a fuel system issue resolved. After three months, thousands in parts and bills I did the non-popular option of a carb swap. The shop put in a 4 barrel manifold, weber 600 carb (Edlebrok) with a USShift Quick1 controller and thier TPS and wiring harness.
When I first got the truck back it was running good but shifted really hard into second gear. I was encouraged by the shop to download the software and tune the profile, so I did. I downloaded the profiles and followed the instructions from Baunam/USShift and still have issues. I have called, left messages and sent e-mails with no response from USShift to help.
Symptoms:
In drive (with or without O/D on) the truck is slow to take off and sluggish until it gets up in RPMs and into 2 or 3rd gear. In reverse, 1, or 2 it does not have this sluggish response.
I have tried all the profiles for the E40d and currently working with the fast lightening profile.
What I have tried:
-Veh speed sensor set to 2wd or 4wd High range axel 4.1 tire 29.5
-TPS Idle TPS Voltage 1.06 and w.o.t. TPS voltage 4.22 (set by capture feature in program)
-Converter Clutch set to basic settings with min MPH 49, max TPS 3.0 Min gear 3
-Speedo output disabled
-manuatronic pushbutton shifting disabled
-manual low control downshift set 13mph and 1-2 up set to 2686 rpm
-Gear ratio set to standard
-drive control switch set to normal lamp on o/d off
-range sensor is set to analog (pre 1998)
-trans type set to Ford E40D and 4R100
Any ideas??????
The truck was one owner, has only 44,880 original miles and looks great with no damage
I wonder if the Conv Clutrch setting for the Max tps need be adjusted to match the TPS WOT ???
It's too bad you took it to a place that had no idea how to fix your truck. If you had taken it to a competent shop you'd have the truck running fine and a lot more money in your pocket.
I don't know ANYTHING about how to make those controllers work. But I've heard they do work.
