Ok, I know a lot of people have seen threads like this in the past. It's not just a Ford problem. However, here's what's going on:
The problem started a few days ago when leaving a parking lot. Limped home.
1995 F150 4x4, 5.8 EFI w/E4OD
I have changed the IAC, tranny filter and half the fluid. Distributor, plugs, and wire are all new. Found one cracked vac line. So far no wiring issues. Now I can actually drive it a little, but still VERY problematic when trying to maintain power in forward gears, stalls if i don't goose it when shifting, minor lag in reverse. Sputters, taps, bucks and resists the whole way.
I'm at a loss. I need help, this is my business truck.
Fixed!
I found an honest tranny mechanic who told me what to look for and what to do. This is a wiring problem, not mechanical. I pulled the entire harness from the trans to the firewall and went over it. I couldn't find any problems, but it spontaneously self corrected.
I also fixed my 04 Explorer tranny problem. Plugged filter. Back on the road after sitting a year with a presumed broke torque converter and or trans.
