Nothing wrong with that unit. Honestly, if they produced this unit when I purchased mine, I would have picked this one simply for the ease of installation.

What is the difference in installation? I am still looking.

That unit is specifically made to be used without an installation kit. It replaces the stereo as if it were a factory unit. That's nice considering all of the trimming required to install one of the universal units.

Seems like a nice unit, whats the cost of an installation kit? If it makes sense to buy a HU that is easier to install that might make sense to me being kinda non-techy.
Btw, how did the install of yours go CAllforfire? I am impressed with the Joying units, and am ready to get on installed!

I'm not too techy either. I like it because it seems easier to install. Maybe someone here can compare the two.
All you have to do is remove your radio and plug this one in. Easiest install yet.
Copy that, as long as it has the same functions it would be worth it too me then, the plug and play ability. Did nut really go over the functions, is it OBD2 CAPABLE?
Now, that I can do. Is it as good as the Joying? Android apps as well can be downloaded. I must have the Torque app.
All of these units are made by the same company, Joyous manufacturing. It doesn't matter what the name is on it, it came from joying. The specific way you can identify it from others is the "JY" in the MCU version, and the fact that it has a RK3166 processor.
Nearly every application on the play store will work (with the exception of MightyText). Torque works well, and I have demonstrated this in a video in a previous post in this thread. All you need is a ELM327 Bluetooth OBDII dongle sourced from ebay for about $13.

It is OBDII compatible, via ELM327 OBDII bluetooth adapter. The only problem I see with this unit is that it has the 800x480 resolution, while not terrible, it's not going to look near as good and the units with 1024x600 resolution.
This appear to be the easiest install option for those who don't want to be trimming installation kit faceplates.
EDIT: Here are some better units, that don't require all of the special installation steps.
Don't be afraid of purchasing from aliexpress. It's a great way to get things on the cheap and you'll receive your orders from china sometimes days sooner than you would with domestic shipping. The last Joying unit I ordered was delivered after 6 days of shipping time to the east coast. It was very fast.
Ok well that some interesting information, the Android software must be proprietary then? Well thanks once again for more information than I had before, I well have too pick the one that the dart lands on then!

Android is "open source" meaning that the manufacturers of this and other devices do not have to pay for the rights to use it on their devices. Apple's "IOS" software is proprietary, meaning that only Apple can use it on their devices and only approved applications can be installed to it.
That's the part I'm hung up on too. How or can you order it with a plug and play harness that will retain steering wheel controls and whatnot? Or do you then have to order a harness separately for that?

You can order it with the correct plugs on it and the steering wheel controls should work, as there is only one wire for all of the buttons and it is in the main radio harness. If it isn't all you have to do is route a jumper for either key-1 or key-2 on the radio to the blue/pink(?) wire in the radio connector.
