I mentioned in the building of the blue ox thread that my WP started leaking. Today I changed campsites and drove about 20 miles and its leaking pretty good. Looked up there and now I'm not convinced its the WP. Its wet all around a flange with a few bolts in it right behind the crank pulley. The WP bearing looks dry and the oil cooler looks dry. This circle flange is dripping on both sides, I'm assuming its the timing cover. Unless its the very bottom of the WP leaking IDK what it is. Grabbing the fan and wiggling it there is no movement. Behind the WP pulley is dry. If its my timing cover leaking, I'm screwed. Any opinions guys? Thanks
The only way to make sure its not the wp is by removing the pump belt pulley to verify if its not leaking from the little hole they have. Those fans push the coolant all over the place, so try to pin point the exact leak. Good luck
Wont' be any water from the timing cover. I'd still guess its the water pump, or thermostat housing, but not likely from what you describe.
I answered your email, if you think you can get it to my place, we'll take care of it.
Let me know what I can do.
Glenn, I can't stress enough that this is EXACTLY what mine looked like leaking from the Tstat housing and underneath from the old WP. I even called Bill at one point last week to ask him if there was a water jacket on the top drivers side long bolt because it looked like it was either coming form there or the gasket itself was leaking. The way the Tstat housing and the weephole leaks,it can almost look like it's coming from the block itself, I swear. I layed underneath mine for 2 hours total trying to figure out where it was coming form and it was mostly the back bolt on the Tstat housing and the weephole all along. I think you have my number, but I'll text you in case you don't. Call me if you need further explanation. I really think it's just your WP.
Thanks guys, I'm relieved Darin that the timing cover is only oil that can leak. I'm almost positive that the thermostat housing and weep hole is dry, but your right Z31 about the fan. I have to go get some tires in the next few days and will check again.

Its not the front cover Glenn
Take off the fan , dry it off , run it till warm .
I just posted this on another thread... A buddy helped me out before I went through a bunch of trouble.
Before you go to a lot of trouble... Check the thermostat. I have found a lot of people are having problems with the thermostat housing is leaking on the 7.3s. A guy at a shop replaced the water pump, timing cover gasket, the thermostat housing and still a leak.
The problem is the aftermarket people, zone, adv, oreilys, napa all sell an O ring to seal the thermostat. It will seal for a while, weeks months ??? You need to go to Ford and get a OEM thermostat. It comes with a seal on it. It covers both sides of the thermostat. It is the only one that seals correctly.
BTW the therm set me back almost $40 but it did not leak. Much better seal than the little o ring.
