Hey guys, a buddy of mine is having an issue with rocker arms breaking. The truck ran for 2 to 3 mins and broke a rocker arm. He replaced that one then broke another one after a couple more mins of running. (different cylinder, same side), both of these were on the exhaust side. The truck sounded fine until it broke.



The truck was in an accident and he has swapped the frame. The impact was on the side that the rocker arms are breaking. Pushrods are fine.

 

iIRC I heard this would happen if a valve was sticking or stuck. Gonna need one of the mechanics to chime in on this. Btw what did it sound like when it broke did it suddenly sound different?

 

I wasnt there but he said it sounded fine. then it was making an enormous racket when it broke.....both times

 

caused by sticking valves or hydrolocking the cyclinders. 99% of the time anyway.
