ESP help please

I have been debating a extended plan. I spoke to my local dealer today and the price seemed outrageous. I remember awhile back seeing some topics on this and if I remember Crystal had a contact? Thank you all in advance for your help. My truck 2011 with 58,000 trouble free miles currently and would like to keep it that way after many problems with my 05.

I do not know how the programs work for trucks out of their original warranty period (3yr/36000)..

I got mine thru flood ford online, but I am within both time and distance.

If you are also past five years, the price sky rockets for the ESP due to out of warranty on all items. Use some of the online dealers and get a few prices so you can see if your dealer is near the same or way over. You have to decide if the 7 year warranty (extends your warranty two more years) is worth the cost vs. the rare event your engine grenades.
To my knowledge, you can't even get the ESP diesel care warranty past 5 years.

It's also a matter of your personal finances. ESPs are really a kind of insurance policy if you think about it. (Apparently, the state commissioners haven't, ha ha)

Basically insurance is for events that would wipe you out financially. Catastrophic things that can't be covered with savings or emergency funds.

For everything else though, the best way is "self insure". If the engine blows up, can you afford repairs or a replacement? Some folks can, no sweat. Other folks not so much.

Another option is to set aside money yourself earmarked for these types of things rather than making someone else's boat payment.

Hi hschiro,

You can check out information about our ESPs here: Extended Vehicle Service & Protection Plans | Service & Maintenance | Official Ford Owner Site If you'd prefer to speak with someone, you can call them directly at 1-877-794-6434.

I just paid $3400 for mine for another 60,000 miles. They finance it over 18 months interest free. Figured its good piece of mine with all the hauling I do. Is it a little steep? First time I need it will probably determine that.

Thank you everyone. My truck is within the 60k and 5 year original warranty so no issues there.
Crystal I will look into what you sent. I appreciate it.

Wait... 5 year/60K? I thought it was 3 year/36K? That's what they told me when I called to inquire.

Factory warranty: 3/36 is bumper to bumper. The engine is 5/100. The trans, axles and transfer case are 5/60.

Guess it depends on if you doing only the "Powertrain ESP" or the "Premium" whole kit and kabootal ESP.
