Out with the old...

I have had my 2003 F-350 for 9 years now. It has been a great truck!! Done everything from tow the TT on countless camping trips, trailer loads of snowmobiles, and atv's up to Wisconsin, Michigan, and West Virginia. When the housing market crashed in 2007 and I was laid off for a year and a half (Union plumber) I ran hotshot loads of freight, campers and boats, and did commercial snow removal in between side jobs. The 7.3 effortlessly racked up 396,000 trouble free miles just needing routine maintenance. I recently (1500 miles ago) replaced the hpop and oil lines due to leakage and some reduced power. The original trans lasted to 310,000 even with snow plowing! The truck has been enjoying retirement the last 3 years (since I bought my 2012 Passat Tdi for the commute to the current job) in the garage only coming out to pull the trailer, or do truck things.

I was trying to wait till the 2017 redesign came out, but a friend of a friend was selling his 2011 F-350 just like I would option out. He was offering me a great price of $25,000 and I planned on running it a year or two and then trading it in for almost what I paid on a 2017. That ended up not working out (because of my not wanting to own a newer diesel out of warranty, and the 2011 issues) by the time I talked myself into it, he had sold it. Now I had been dreaming of a new truck and I couldn't shake it. I was pricing new 2015 models and the best I could do after talking to most of the local dealers was a F-350 Lariat Ultimate cc long bed 6.7 4x4 with all options for $55,600 plus tax, ect... The only problem was this was not a center console truck and that was a deal breaker... I also found a 15' 6.2 just like it with a console that the dealer came down to $50,600. To be honest I don't need the diesel anymore plus the EPA has made sure that no diesel is trouble free like the 7.3, and who can justify a $5000-$15000 bill when the worst happens after warranty. The day before I was going to make the deal on the 6.2, my buddy suggested to look at Carmax just for fun. They had a 2014 F-350 just like I wanted with 8000 miles for $49,000. I had one of my buddies run an Oasis which was clean and I decided to go for it and save $8-10k now and have better resale than the 6.2, plus in 2-3 years who cares if it's a 2014 or 2015 I will only put 3-5000 miles a year on it...

Wow these new trucks are amazing inside and out! The power compared to my 7.3 is crazy! I cannot wait to really tow with it.

That's awesome! Admit it, I helped convince you ... Jk, super nice truck brother!

Now you need to get a 48' 5er and a boat to pull behind it...........

Or at least that's what I'm told.

I went from an 02 V10 to a 14 6.7; know what still draws my attention?

The batman style hood that I see when I'm motoring down the road! Enjoy the new ride.

Nice couple of rigs you have there. If the oasis was good then I don't blame you for jumping all over that deal. If you can find a good used diesel that has been treated wll, that is never a bad thing.

Hopefully you will get as much out of your new 6.7 as you did your old truck. Now get out there and enjoy it!

You might consider draining the DEF tank with an $8 Lawn Mower siphon just to make sure it's not old and crystalizing. This will help you avoid the whole "DEF Contamination" CEL.
