Is this worth it?

I have the basic warranty and wondered if this ford extended warranty from ziegler is worth it .. If not for anything else ,piece of mind.. It would cost me about 1 grand to bring it out to 7 yrs based on my yearly mileage. Heres the link Ford ESP: Ford Extended Service Plans at highly discounted prices. Lowest Price Guarantee!... I know extended warrantys are meant to make money for the seller but its not too bad a price IMO... Thoughts?

Those are better prices than what I paid for my extended warranty for my 2011 so I think the prices are pretty good. I wound up not needing it but it was indeed worth the peace of mind. I'm probably going to get one for this truck as well for that very reason. Besides, my extended warranty saved me big time on my '08 so I know the value of the warranties. Some argue they're a waste of money but I look at it like it's insurance; most times you don't need it but for the few times you do, it's a good thing to have. And given the costs of some of these components, it's easy to get clobbered. Ultimately though you have to decide if the money is worth your peace of mind.

Wow man you rack the miles on dont ya?I plan on having no issues with this truck but like you said IF something happens one grand may be peanuts in the long run with just one problem out of warranty... I know some people will say their warrany is worth nothing trying to get their dealer to cover stuff but I believe I have a stand up ford dealer.

When I was in the finance manager's office at my dealer signing all my paperwork on my new truck, he made his pitch on the extended warranty. I told him that I wanted to purchase an extended warranty but that he needed to meet ziegler's price. My little quote from ziegler save me a bunch of cash.

I wouldn't own this truck without my 7 year, 100,000 mile, $50 deduct warranty. I purchased a few more miles than I needed in case something changes and I need to drive more miles per day then I do today.

This was a timely post as I am about to go shopping for extended warranties and it's nice to see some dealers don't mind giving a good price on these. My selling dealer was twice the price as Ziegler. My previous extended warranty was a decent deal too but it seems to me that prices are dropping a bit.

My dealer also told me that if I am ever running out of miles on my extended warranty but I have plenty of time left, I can always purchase more miles.

If that happens, he said "Just stop back to get the price to extend the miles".

I think im going to get it when the time comes.. Just got the truck two months ago so plenty of time to buy it.. I have to wonder if in my case its worth it.I will have maybe 15,000 miles after three years and 25,000 after 5 yrs which the powertrain is covered for...

Ditto. I have bought them on mine starting in around 1998. They have paid for themselves many times over. And, with all of the electronics and the technology on today's vehicles, out of warranty, they're likely to cost a fortune to repair.

So if the diesels have a 5year / 100000 mile warentee on the power train, is there really a need for 6 or 7 years? I drive maybe 12k a year and to get a 6 or 7 year for the same 100k length seems like it might be a waste. While the extended covers pretty much everything I figure its really the engine we are all really worried about. Pros? Cons?

Peace of mind

I bought mine and will continue to do so until I'm independently wealthy. Seriously it's worth it have my 2011 was in the shop for 26 days, can you imagine what labor would have cost?

Thats my dilemma too but I believe its the electronics that could cost you big bucks if theres an issue. Again its if... But its piece of mind im after for a relatively low cost..

For a lower mileage guy, extending the warranty out, IMO, might make sense because of the expensive components. Plus, you never know if your driving habits might change. Given the costs of some of these plans, a seven year one amortizes out to a couple hundred dollars a year. Like others said above, they can really save you and it has me. The computers and electronics in these trucks are really expensive.

I have the Ford PremiumCare plan for 6yr/75k miles. If I wanted to extend out to 100k or more miles should I do this now or can wait? Not sure how the window of opportunity works for warranty cost. I drive 12k-15k miles per yr.

To some larger companies, thee wait time to get repairs done has resulted in ditching the truck altogether.
In those instances, even a regular warranty is not very great at times.

In addidtion to the warranty extensions, I'd love to see a "Fix it or replace it" warranty extension, that you pay extra for, and if it can't be fixed and out of the shop within a week, it's replaced.
