Hey guys, it's been quite some time. I'm looking at picking up a 1996 F-150 with a 302 auto 4x4. It has roughly 130k miles on the odometer. The truck is spotless and has quite a bit of work done to it. However there is a upper end tick.
My plans for the truck are to rebuild what I had in high school, a mild 4" lift some 33 or 35s (yes I will regear). It will be my weekend/daily driver -ish? Haha! I love the OBS fords. I was really looking for a 4.9 to drive again but I can't really pass up the rumble of a v8. In my high school truck I had replaced the worn out 302 with a crate engine that was considered H.O. At that time I thought it was pretty powerful. My friend told me a 351 would be a wise upgrade but at the same time another friend said a built 302 is better!?!
What would you suggest, rebuild the 302 or swap in a 351 with upgrades? I plan on spending around $3-4k for the engine and would like to keep it reliable and fuel injected. Thoughts? Or maybe I should just swap in a 4.9 lol
