Yeah, I read that early Randy. Kind of surprising to see a large corporation take a risk like that. I'm willing to bet it's for the sake of their fuel economy numbers.
Yes folks, it's the weekend!
Hot coffee with sweet italian creme is on the counter along with fresh blueberry muffins, bagels and the Danish is warming now!
Come gitcha some!
Checked out the Red Top trail yesterday afternoon for a bit. Nowhere near as rocky as the ones in New Hampshire, and I was impressed with how well laid out everything was. Got to play around on a couple of hills and just had to jump off for a photo on this one:
Nah, probably not. Mud's not my thing, I've seen and heard enough sunken tales to stay away from deep mud. I was very surprised to see mud pits out there, they had none in NH. I stayed the heck away though, my TRV is only three months old!
That thing looks nice Randy! How do you like it? I've been thinking about getting a SxS so the younger ones could come along.
I have a question for those of you who know engines. My mother-in-law has an '06 Grand Caravan that's started to make a noise that's concerning me. It sounds like marbles rattling in a can. Took a video this morning and you can clearly hear it from around 0:27 on. I'm fairly certain it's coming from the engine.
I hear a belt chirp and possibly an idler pulley bearing or alternator bearing.. If you pull the belt off and try it for a minute and there's no noise, you know the problem is in the belt driven accessories or pulleys...
Sometimes spraying the belt with hairspray will help give the belt a little better traction and make less noise so you can dig deeper in the diagnosis..
The Arctic Cat Wildcat is a nice little rig. Runs well and is pretty peppy - I've had it up to 65 mph with a windshield and roof...
It should go doggoned near anywhere I want to go...

Thanks Randy. I didn't get underneath it recently, but two years ago when she first got the car I heard the same noise but not as loud. It sounded like it was coming from the oil pan. I've replaced the alternator and idler pulley within the last year and a half, so I'll check again when I get the chance.

Looks really nice! I like the Wildcat Trail quite a bit. Never got the chance to drive one, but on paper they look great. Unfortunately they're too long to fit on my trailer with the quad up front.
Mine is a 2014 500 TRV I bought new in June. Pretty basic 2-seater, and I have about 170 miles on it so far. A bit of a rougher ride than my Polaris had, but the overall build quality seems great. Have been very happy with it so far, and I may take it up to Isle tonight depending on what the rest of the family is doing.
In other news, I test drove this guy about an hour ago:
I wasn't ready to buy today, but they pitched me a really impressive deal. $2,000 higher than KBB says my Prius is worth, and they beat TrueCar on the sale price by about $1,000. Will be definitely thinking about this in the coming days.
THIS is the truck. Could be mine for $37,619. I think I have a $750 coupon from Ford they don't know about as well.
Speaking of F150s... I've seen two of them in the last week dragging Fifth Wheels behind them. Neither truck looked like it was working hard but then it wasn't in a hilly area either..
The one I saw yesterday was dragging a Cougar...
My '13 F150 handled 10,000 lbs far better than the Excursion it replaced, I was very impressed with it. The newest generation seems more refined. A little quieter, better riding, better handling, and noticeably quicker due to the lower weight.
Don't really want to spend the money though. The used truck market is NUTS at the moment. They had a '13 F150 very similar to my last one with 33,000 miles. They wanted $31,000 for it. I paid $33,500 for mine brand-new!
Got a few things done on the camper today.. You may remember that I found a heat duct that a mouse had chewed through...
Well, figuring that the little b@stard might have died inside it, I tackled the job of pulling the whole duct.. While I didn't find the mouse, I dumped out a lot of mouse turds and other crap.. I replaced the duct all the way back to the furnace. What a PITB. Spending time in the basement of this camper seems to be my favorite pass-time.. More on that in the next post..
