Since I am in the process of deciding what to do with my 85 f250 460 (rebuild or buy a newer truck), what are people's thoughts on this from Craigslist?

1979 Ford 460 motor new rebuilt. This motor came out of a Ford F350 2wd truck. I purchased another F350 before I got this motor installed and decided to part the truck out instead of fixing it up.
This motor was built for pulling stock trailers and flat beds. It has a Crane Torker II cam, 10:1 flat top pistons, and an Offenhauser 4 bbl intake. Bored .030 and top of the line internal parts.

Thanks a lot. Pump gas is what I'll be using. Just getting my feet wet with engine part specifications/customizations so wasn't sure how far from stock this was.
10:1 compression wont run on pump gas very well. Unless he has receipts for when it was built I wouldn't touch it for more than $250.
I think I would give him a little more than that. If I were buying it I would bring a good strong battery and a compression tester. If the compression was good, I think it would probably be a good engine, especially if a local shop built it. They may even stand behind it if they remember the build.
Be careful with a "79" engine.
Internal vs external balance was a running change during the 1979 model year.
I.e. external balance engines were brought out as Fords supply of internal balance cranks and blocks were exhausted.
If the knucklehead selling this engine is just dating it by the D9TE engineering number on the block you can be sure it is external balance.
My '87 truck has a D9 block...
