drag link end kits

Installed new series 400 power steer(hoses not on yet) Question on the drag link tube do we install the springs towards the center of link ? I did and it seems that the ball stud is not in the slot as far as the old one( but then the old one did not have spring in it. I tightend the slotted ends as far as I could then backed them off to put in cotter. The ball is not going anywhere but just want to make sure. The parts break down looks to be the way I described it but want to make sure. have a cool one in hand and listening to tunes (ya oldies) waiting for answer don't make me drink to many. Thanks
Art

I thought you put the springs in toward the center of the drag link? That's correct for the rear, but not for the front.

Balloon Siesta always starts the 1st weekend of October. I hope to not be around!
