so my wife took my truck in to get the brakes fixed last year wile i was on deployment. now thy are screeching again after less than a year of new rotors and break. i checked the rotors they are smooth and the break pads seem to be in good condition. it does not do it all the time and i cannot make it do it. i will be driving go to slow down at a light and they will screech next light they wont. should i just replace the brakes and see if that fixes them?
Could be the pads weren't properly broke in. I've taken the pads off and given them a light sanding on a flat surface with some 50 grit sand paper. Then reinstall and brake the pads in properly.
Also, get proper lube for the caliper pins so al your brakes are working properly. Caliper slide pins should be done atleast yearly. This makes sure that the caliper side, and the bracket side have both pads contacting the rotor true. You will also want to make sure all the caliper clips, are stainless and installed properly to hold the pads properly in the caliper, if one is binding up that can cause uneven wear and let grit and rocks in there causing more noise than normal too.
so still havent figured out why they are squeeking but on inspection i found a problem wit my front end. trying to see if anyone knows the bolt size without me having to take the other side apart will have some pics in the morning
