All the codes came on at once and when I am cruising at a steady speed it runs fine the only problem is at idle it sputters out and dies. Black smoke comes out the exhaust pipe and also what I think is liquid gas coming out the exhaust pipe is leaves a nasty black splatter/spray right behind the Explorer under the exhaust tip. Everything started when my wife filled up with gas at a Get-Go gas station its a grocery store chain here in MD, she called me and said she got the gas and before she could take the kid to school it was shaking real bad at stop lights and I'm not sure where to start with all these codes I am a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic in the Army so I know my way around a wrench just use to working on diesels and a lot bigger trucks any advice would be great.
I wonder if the gas had something in it ? diesel ? ethanol content ? water ? .......... if it happened right when she filled up, I think I would drain it back out... You could suck most out thru the filler cap ........... If the gas you normally use is gasoline, you might try 5 gal of 10% ethanol gas to see if it was water contamination.
--- might talk to the gas station and see if they have had others complain ?
I called the next day and they said no one else has reported anything and ive filled up with bp gas but i did drive it until the low fuel light came on before i filled up again at bp and its still the same thing.
The fault code is not related to the fuel, you have a blown fuse or otherwise open power circuit for the MAF, O2 sensor heaters, EGR & evap solenoids, and the TCM.
Go check your fuses, see owner's manual for an index to them.
