Okay I'm gonna start from the beginning I found fellow ford owner with a set of used baby swamps and bought them and the motor for a fair price because he had finally desided to do a cummins swap when he found a motor for the right price anyway i installed the injectors and did the hole process of installation and then it wouldn't start after a long time of cranking so I dissvonected the glow plugs and gave it a small shot of either and it fired right up and drives fine runs great and doesn't smoke any oil smoke now but on a decel it stumbles a little and when it's cooled off it won't start again
How many miles since the injector install? Sometimes it can take up to a hundred miles to get all the air out of the oil rails. Are the glow plugs and relay working correctly? Some trucks need the glows even in warm weather.
well ive put probably about 80 miles on it and put fresh oil in it but ive seen when oil is warm 7.3s not start because of low hpop pressure but it starts up great when warm better than before
I'm realy in need of some help and advice on this love this site but I realy need some help I'm in collage and need my truck back not currently driving it due to now wanting to damage it or anything money is tight
If it is starting OK when warm, and not when cold, look at the glow plugs and relay. You can "jump" the 2 large posts on the relay with a screw driver. Bridge the 2 posts, being careful not to touch any thing metal other than the 2 posts, for about 30 seconds, then try to start. If it fires right up the relay needs replaced. An easy way to check the glow plugs is to unplug the harness from the gasket, then with a test light with the lead clamped on the positive battery post, touch the outer most pin on the gasket. There will be 5 pins on each plug in. The pins are glow-injector-common-injector-glow. If the test light comes on, that glow plug is probably good, no light the plug is burned out. Check each of the 4 plugs in the valve covers.
Well I put all new glow plugs in during injector install and it was about 75 dagrees out during the time that I was messing with it but I was wondering if I have a fuel bleed off problem but I also can't deside if it's a oil problem but I'm not shure with the fact that it starts when warm has anyone had a problem with there truck stumbling and stalling on a decel
What do you mean by stumbling on decel? These motor can get very quiet when coasting to a stop. If its actually dying, that may indicate a cps going bad.
Like for example when slowing down and down shifting and then u clutch it and are not hiting the throttle it the idle will drop off and almost die or sputter it's done this for a long time but not as much it's much worse now
