Question Boost Gauge isn't working right...

So I just finished installing my gauges (EGT, boost, and fuel press) and they all work great except boost. the lights come on the way they should, shut off the way they should, but it doesn't register any boost. I tee'd into the map line, and i've checked all the connections and can't figure out why nothing's registering... would it be a problem with the gauge internally, or is there something else going on here?

I assume you went out on the road and drove it, wont build boost reving in the yard.. I always take out the tiny screw that is inside the threaded nipple on the back of the boost gauge, its designed to cut down on needle chatter but all it seams to do is make the gauge slow.

Other then that only other problem is you might have kinked a line somewhere.

Your best bet for boost is to tap into the intake neck into the manifold. This location is downstream from the turbo and will show boost the best. It is a real easy process, just remove a few bolts and the neck can be drilled and tapped on the work bench. Clean it up good before re-installing and and your done.

Outside of that and looking at your method of doing it. I would guess your boost line is kinked, your sensor blew out of the hose or pulled off the gauge, or the line is cracked.

Yeah if you are yard revving it nothing will happen. Get out on the highway about 60 and floor it. If boost doesn't register then the above is true.

If you have no kinks in the hose and the gauge shows nothing at WOT then I'd say you got a bad gauge

ok, yeah, i just revved it up in the garage, so maybe that was the problem... tomorrow morning i'll take it out for a spin and see if anything works different... i've heard that the map line way makes the gauge really jumpy... is that true or is it different with every case?

I had this exact same problem last weekend. I ended up having a kink in the line as well as the cheap plastic T wouldn't hold pressure. I went to napa and got a NPT fitting and tied into the spyder. Now I have boost. You also must take it for a drive. Like said earlier, it won't build boost in the driveway.

It's different with each case.

If its a mechanical gauge, they don't read the same at idle.

You cannot really tell if its working anyways unless you get on it.

If there is a kink in the hose, it will screw everything up.

x2, I had one go bad. A easy way to test it is to take a small 12v air pump and put on a small attachment that will fit into the boost line. But, don't fit it in all the way, just hold it up to the line. You don't want to blow it to hard. Turn the pump on and apply a little air and see if the gauge comes up. I do this with my water injection to see if the nozzle will blow water. My water injection is turned on by boost. If I'm seeing boost on the gauge and the nozzle is not shooting out water my screen needs cleaned.

Same, here and no problems when stock; when I installed the IC I changed to the hot side of the spyder because I read that in that way there are less turbo lag., and with the IC you loose 2-4 psi of boost.

Fuel pressure sounds way high. Most people have it around 60-70 or so. I get 28 psi, with stock cali sticks, and some unknown 50hp chip.
