Maybe someone has an old one that they would take apart and
post the photos of it. Then you might have an idea on an out in
the dirt quick and dirty fix.

Oh believe she will run fine, I just like to have a plan so IF something were to happen I have a starting point. I say starting point since plans usually never go as "planned"

TP and baby wipes Also always in my truck.

If you anticipate any water crossings as I have experienced here in the Arizona desert I always plum the diffs and tranny vents together and terminated high in the engine compartment, when and hot diff hits cold water they tend to suck water in, not condusive to long term diff & tranny life

Thanks didn't even consider that.
There will be at least one water crossing and if it rains there could be more.

I was a fisherman in the Bering Sea for years. The only stuff
that breaks is the stuff you don't have parts for and you can't
carry everything.

Stay positive and have lots of fun. It's all just an adventure,
even the breakdowns.

I had only one experience in the desert and 1 I will never forget.
When we broke down it was about a 110 degrees just before dark. Within a 1 1/2 hour it was 40 and falling. {Hence the blankets} It was a day and a half before anyone came by, no cell phone service [locals used long range radios]. So good communication equipment is desireable. A good map comes in handy as well. I later found out if I had walked about 3 miles in the right direction I would have found help instead of the 10 mile walk I made in the wrong direction.

Bullet Proof Diesel Fan Clutch Adapter, 6.0L to 7.3L Ford Diesel

$56 plus a mechanical clutch for the non-quick and dirty way really isn't that bad, considering the price tag BPD products normally carry.

I have a CB I use often, looking into HAM licenceing an such. I love to explore and go way out there sometimes a CB doesn't cut it, HAM has been in my sight for some time now.

I do my best to always have a "paper" map of the area and lensatic compass .. I do have a large book map of all of CA registered off road trails, comes in handy more often then not.

Did you read the page on the rental of the beacons? They also have a
short message function for sending things like "OK" messages. Very handy
if you need to stay longer and you have someone waiting for your return.
Some even go as far as having voice. nit the lesser cost one with messaging
would be ideal for what your doing right now. Later the HAM license would be
good so long as you have power and or a handheld. Always have to keep power
supply in mind.

Speaking of power. Solar battery charge if you can find one with enough output.

EXTRA camera batteries and flash memory for all the cool photos for US left behind.

I have one that's pretty good and a kick *** flashlight. One time I had to use both to get my truck to start (dead bat). didn't think it would work, but I also didn't feel like walking so I tried.

I was planning on bringing my backup laptop just to download all pics and vids if I ran out of room on the 32g cards.
