1970 Ford wiring problems

I have a 1970 Ford pickup, with a 400 engine I installed. with an electronic ign. That has a messed up wiring harness and more thanks to a so called friend. I had to reinstall a point dist, I have no dash lights, Gauges not working, I hit the turn signal and the horn blows. For starters, What color wire runs the turn signal and from and to where does it attach. Thanks.

Have you checked Fordification for the wiring diagram?

Yes I have checked Fordifacation many times. It helps somethings, Just not doesn't seem to show the same wire colors.

Well tell me a little better what you are wanting and I will see if I can find it on my 1970 and tell you. Do you want the wiring inside the column? Or the wires color along the frame back to the turn signal lights? Or want me to poke around under the dash?

I know when I bought my truck all the lights went out about a mile from the POs house. I pulled the headlight switch (youtube video how-to) and hot wired across the connector. You might try the same to see if you can get dash lights that way. The headlight switches are a known problem on these.

You can pm me if you want a number or something to call and I will try to help. I suck at electrical but am willing to go out and see what I can tell you on my truck since it is the same year and all.

Wiring mess

Thanks for the responce. I have a wiring mess in the dash I'm trying to fix. Myturn signals aren't working, No dash lights Gauges don't work. no horn. horn does blow when I hit turn signal. I have found an orange wire with white stripe coming from the flasher not hooked up Need to find where it goes. for starters. My 70 Ford I've had for over 25 years. Now only thing left stock is the body.
Was a yellow with a green vinal top on a half ton chassie. With a 360, and c6 trans. Had a 390 for 15 yrs now its burgandy and white, on a 3/4vton chassie ton and a half rating. dual tanks And a Rebuilt 400 from my sisters 78 bronco.Ran great just need some miner wiring. Then a so called friend tried to help messed everything up Don't know how many times I've had the harness out. Reeady to pullout again if I have to. Hope not. Thanks for your time.

Sounds to me that the Turn Signal Switch wires are not hooked up to the dash wiring correctly. I'd start there and see what you end up with.

Fordification has most of the builders books for our year trucks up on there page. I was lucky enough that a fellow member here sent me the one I have. I was going to have digital copies made until I found out that it was already up on fordification.
