Fuel pump question! Please help

Please help. I was taking the mechanical fuel pump out of my 1997 Powerstroke f250 turbo diesel. The bottom plunger part broke off and fell down into the cam area. Can i leave it there? Or is there an easier way of getting it out than taking apart the whole engine. Thanks!

Several years ago a Forum member had the same problem and was able to fish out the broken piece with a magnet.

Try searching the 7.3 diesel forum. I'll bet that this has happened to several other folk.
