ok, i am planning on putting hooker headers on my truck it is a 1990 f150 302, the reducers are 2.5inch diameter, so im wondering what will be the best for my truck, in terms of sound and power, true duals, y pipe, etc, im new to this so i dont the benifits of each. so any help is appriciated
i would run stock ford block huger shorty headers from a 94 mustang. through a simple Y pipe ( and cat if required ) then through the muffler or glass pack then split the pipe into 2 tail pipes with echo cannons. i would use 2.5" mandrel bent pipe with 3" tail pipes.
i don't have the headers but i do have everything else on my 96 super cab 4x4 with a 5.0 it has decent power with a deep rumble sound. it also has plenty of room under the truck and it is tucked between the frame rails nice and neat. i would also use the stock ford headers over the hooker headers do to the following. clearance issues / no gasket required / stock exhaust hardware and heat shields for the plugs / no heat shield needed for the starter / stock ford 2 bolt flange. and it would be easy to place your O2 censor in the proper location. good luck with what ever you do.
Long tubes with a y pipe will yield best results....duals will do absolutely nothing except decrease torque production.
ok, because what ive been reading is saying that long tubes for torque and shorty's for hp. but i got a flowmast 44 from a friend for free that is 2.5 inlet and has 2 2.25 oulets so im probably going to put that on

Don't listen to a word this guy just said. SOOOO much of this is wrong.

well, i kinda got that from reading that, im already really thinking about hooker long tubes, running 2.5inches back with a y pipe, into a flowmaster series 44 (which i got for free from a friend) then duals out the passenger side
