Hello all,
I have a 1999 F250 power stroke 7.3. Six speed t was running one minute fine and then I went out to my truck to start it and there was power but the engine would not turn over. I am able to start the truck if I put a screwdriver over the fender mounted solenoid. I know the issue must be in the ignition somewhere but any help on where to start would be great. If you could be specific and locations as well that would be appreciated.
It's probably that starter relay you jumped. They do go bad. Take the wire off the small terminal and run a jumper wire from there to the battery + post (make sure the truck is in neutral). If nothing happens, there's your problem. If it does crank, then move further back in the system. Clutch switch, and then ignition switch. Both of those can be tested right under the dash at the clutch pedal rod.
