Hello ladies and genitals. I have recently found myself in possession of a 03 f150 with a destroyed engine. I've personally never heard anything make these noises before and I'm really not interested in fixing a 5.4. What I am interested in is this 6.9 ide that has been in my garage for a few years. I'm thinking that because I don't have near enough headaches in my life I can make this work. I got a transmission shop that owes me a few good favors so the drivetrain shouldn't really be a problem.
Anyway to the point...I definitely don't want anything computerized. Anyone got any suggestions or input on some other diesel engines that might be a better option? Based on some quick googleing the 6.9 is approx 10 inches bigger in every direction. Why definitely not a show stopper I'm curious about others input just in case I've got project tunnel vision going on here. Thank you
welcome to FTE.
i can see quite a few issues that will have to be worked out, with #1 being the 5.4 weighs around 550 lbs, and the diesel is closer to 1100 lbs. and the transmission will not work, you will have to use diesel specific trans.
