Well with the other list of problems with my truck, my clutch safty switch went out to where no matter how hard I press the clutch down I cant get my truck to start all I hear is the solenoid click and nothing else, I was able to get it to start by jumping the solenoid with a screwdriver so I know my battery, starter, and solenoid is good so does anybody know how to bypass the switch ? its driving me insane I looked at the switch and theres two red wires and one black wire going into the switch, anybody know what wires to jump to get this truck running? thank you in advance by the way
I don't know the exact wiring, but my guess is that if you hear a click when you turn the key to start, the problem isn't the clutch safety switch. Check the fender mounted solenoid for proper function. Is that clicking when you try the start? You might need a second person to hit start while you listen to the solenoid. If it is the solenoid clicking than it definitely isn't the clutch safety switch. Do you get 12 volts out of it when the key is in the start position?
I dont have a multimeter , but i did notice that the terminals were loose and they wont tighten, I also threw my battery on the charger to see if it would help at all
If the terminals are loose, as in the wire wiggles back and forth, or if the studs rotate back and forth in the body of the solenoid, it is time to replace it. It the trucks turns over just fine by shorting the starter solenoid terminals, charging the battery won't help any.
