I suppose it all depends on your budget. If you are having a shop doing the conversion, you might as well spend the extra money on the 'best'.

On the other hand, when I can pick up an IDI for under $200 in running condition, and Cummins motors are in the multi-grand range... I figure an IDI'll get the job done. And parts are widely available and cheap, too.

I'd like to find another engine or 2 for that price. Like to have some spares ready to go

If you're ever in Kansas, I've got more idi engines than I know what to do with!

Well Farmfly, you got me! I am heading to Philly next week to pick up an 06 F350 missing the 6.0. Jasper 7.3 has found a home!

Something I've been pondering is how much harder it is (or isn't) since this truck was designed to work on the engine with the cab off. Have you had any trouble with this?

Its going on two years now and I haven't had any problems with the truck. I have added a back-up camera and a second 40 gallon fuel tank where the spare tire would go. I do add wire connectors to anything I add just in case I have to pull the cab, i wont have to cut wires. Still overall very pleased with the truck.

Good job.

That truck is going to be going to the grave with you then.

Great to hear that. These engines have their issues, but generally speaking they are minor and cheap to fix. Hope you enjoy year of driving with your well done swap.

Sorry for digging up an old thread. But I must tip my hat to a job well done.

Considerng how this thread started, it is funny to note that I found out about it because it was mentioned in the 6.4 forum.

Thank you for sharing your journey. It is very impressive.
