I just tried to build a well-optioned new F150 online but the site says "No Inventory". They must be winding down production of the 2015 models. I guess it's better to wait a month or two for the perfect "built to suit" truck. I'll also feel better knowing the S/cab will have the frame bars at the front wheels.
Does anyone know when the 2016's will be up for building? Any major changes planned?
Builds start in October (November for KC plant). Order banks open 26th of this month (Aug). We probably won't get the official order guides showing differences until order day, but other than the new Appearance package, I don't know of any significant changes.
I was just at a ford dealer today and the manager said he ordered several '15's from the factory today. I questioned him weather they were '16's and he said no they were '15's
You can put orders in but they are balanced out. So unless they get picked up on the tail end of the production to fill the line they won't be built. It's highly unlikely that they will get picked up. Placing an order that is destined to fail is bad for customer service, but it's fine for trying to fill your lots inventory.
Actually, I just checked the fleet bulletin and they moved the '16 order bank up so they do look like they are open now for '16 orders and not taking '15 orders. I haven't tried to build any yet though to confirm it.
Does anyone know when Ford will start building a regular cab model on the F-150? I've checked with several dealers, and they don't know much of anything. I've got the sales manager at one dealer keeping his ear to the ground for me, but I haven't heard anything from him. Fortunately I can wait a while, but I'm starting to get concerned that they're not going to build one at all. It is on their website, though. It has been since the 2015 model was announced so that leads me to believe that they will. I want a regular cab with the 8' bed; similar to my old 2006 now.
2016 RC will not start until November... but you can place the orders now.
Franze, you seem very knowledgeable about this. Looking to replace my 04 Lariat with a new XLT SC. Was going to order a 15 but am waiting for the additional bracing up front and Sync 3. Any idea of when I can order and possible build dates? I could live with sync 2 but the crash worthiness I want. This will be my first special order and am quite excited about it. BWoot

So production of the regular cab model will start in November? I'm fine with ordering, but I want to physically see one before I place the order, so I can make sure there's enough room behind the seats for my tool box and other junk that we all carry in our trucks. Thanks Frantz.
Frantz, sorry, I misspelled your name earlier. I am brand new to the forum and consequently unable to read your message for 10 days. I didn't realize this when I posted. Bwoot
No worries. Just as a warning, I'm a wolf here. I sell Ford trucks for a living. I just want you to know where my "knowledge" and bias comes from. I sell Ford Trucks entirely intentionally. I do have some 2015 RC in stock I could take a picture behind the seats. They are sorta hard to come buy for 15 due to frame shortages. The RC trucks won't start getting built until Nov 2016 at the KC plant. I don't keep too close track of which all plant makes what, but I just checked a 15 XLT SC in stock and that one came from Dearborn which would be October start up.
