The Green Gem looks drop dead gorgeous on these, in my opinion anyway! Lowering the truck will probably void your warranty, though. I'd wait to do that till the warranty runs out, but it's your truck. The Lime green wheels sounds cool.
Okay I see that Ford finally started building some RC models as there are some '16 RC's in the dealers now. But I noticed that they are all short bed models. Even I as I look at the Extended Inventory from Ford's website, which brings up every F-150 in dealer inventory from all over PA, WV, and OH; there are none with the 8 ft bed! What the hell is Ford's problem? Is there another frame shortage, production delay, or what? The funny thing is a few years ago they were hardly making any RC/SB models, now if you want the regular cab, that's what you're getting.
Does Ford not realize that some people out there still use their trucks as work vehicles and need the 8 foot bed?
Most 8ft orders are fleet. Most people, through the history of pickup ownership, have owned shorter RC pickups. Most people were perfectly served by a 6ft bed, as the tailgate down gave you the room for 4x8's. The shorter ones are more popular because they can be maneuvered around. Most of the fleets around here (and they use their trucks way harder than Joe Schmo) have 6.5' beds. Most things that need longer than 8ft will get trailered anyways, which the fleets also have plenty of. If you need a very rare combo, it's exceedingly easy to sit down with a dealer and order one.
Also keep in mind there are two plants for the F150 and the '16 RC 8' bed just came online this month. Just cause there may be a few '16s out there, doesn't mean everything is up to full production. We went a whole year without them pretty much too so any that are inbound may well be leftover orders from last year so they aren't available for the general public in much supply. It is a very rare request to see RC 8' bed, and I work commercial sales....

I've got a 2006 now, RC/LB and believe me there have been a lot of times that I have used every inch of those 8 feet, and been looking for more. That's why I bought this truck, because I needed the full-size truck and 8 foot bed. I've needed it for the past 10 years and I still do. I don't need a 3/4 ton either. I'm not hitting the weight limits that would justify a Superduty. I realize it's easy to order one and when I do purchase that's most likely what I'll do, but first I want to make sure that I'm not going to be waiting a full model year to get the thing!
Thanks for the explanation Frantz. I knew you would have an answer that made sense.
Has anyone seen the new grey on the 2016 models? It took me by surprise since the Build & Price tool at ford dot com still shows Magnetic Grey as the choice.
This past Sunday I stopped by the Ford Store for some uninterrupted drooling and I see this grey truck. Turns out to be a 2016 F150 in grey, but it was called "Lithium Grey" I believe. It was the strangest/coolest paint job on a factory vehicle that i've seen in a while. It looked like a smooth, really thick gel coat somehow...not a bit of metallic fleck in the paint. Smooth and gooey looking - I don't know how else to describe it.
Anyway - wasn't sure where else to post my unexpected find.
Its a cool color - Honestly, my first impression was that it was going to show every ding, scratch, clearcoat swirle, etc. But maybe I'm wrong...if you find one nearby and you like gray trucks, check it out.
I still don't see the color as an option on the Build & Price tool at Ford.com.
Normally I'm not a fan of gray at all, but that is a nice looking truck. Not sure I like that price tag. Wonder if they'd be willing to trade even up for the wife's old Mercury?
Nah, I didn't think so either!
Good luck with your order. February 14, 2015 I ordered a 2015 long bed 163 " wheelbase, April notified of delay due to Frame production issues, June, July, Aug. No info from FORD per dealer. September I informed I would not want a 2015 this late in the game with 2016 orders available soon. Late September I was informed I would not be getting a 2015 rather a 2016 with the Build date of November. Yesterday I found out Ford will not start production until the 1st Qtr. of 2016, no specific date. WOW Waiting over a Year for Ford to Manufacture a truck you can build on their website, dealer take a down payment etc. Pretty Crappy of Ford. If I had not waited a couple years already waiting for the new Aluminum body I would start looking at Chev. of Doge.
Any one else experience this problem, Any Ideas on how one would persue Ford to provide some sort of discount for their incompetence on their suppliers etc??
Thanks,
Oh by the way Just ordered a 2016 Explorer Limited for my wife, she is so upset about the truck she may cancel her car.
You won't get jack from Ford since Ford doesn't guarantee anything in the order process. It sucks that their was a frame shortage, it certainly affected my sales last year.
