My 86 f150 5.8 with an edelbrock carb has a wix 33032 fuel filter. Everything is good but I think its getting clogged. Anyways not the issue. The issue is I looked at the oem filter and its way smaller and threads on. Mine is between two rubber fuel lines with hose clamps. Can I use a fuel injected fuel filter like the wix 33032 or a motorcraft fg-800A with the same setup? Doesnt look like I can go back to the oem one.....any help?
The OEM filters that screw into the carb were usually a very coarse filter and, in my opinion, are worthless. Any aftermarket filter that fits your hose size is a big improvement. I like to run the clear plastic ones so I can tell when they are getting dirty, which happens quickly with these old fuel systems.
O'Reilley's has this one: WIX 33003 - Fuel Filter | O'Reilly Auto Parts. I don't know if it is the right size for your line, but they have it in other sizes as well. And most of the parts stores carry similar ones.
