Maybe Santa brings you head gaskets under the Xmas tree, as Santa cuts the costs it will come via post office and for some reason he uses Czech post office

Yes, preproduction set is being made for testing purposes, once it is made I send it to Justin and he is going to beat hell out of them. Then we decide if any changes are needed. I also want to try bigger thickness for the easy way of decompressing the engine. However I am broke due the customs, I need to earn some money. Now I focus on the first set. Don't worry, I am extremely stubborn and once I get something to my head, I do not give up.

I went ahead with the reinz material with the both sides covered with sheet metal with stainless steel fire rings, as I believe it will solve our problém blowing the gaskets. The reinz itself has a stainless steel layer inside in the middle, the sheets supporting the firering from up and down. The reinz is rated for over 1600F so we should not see any burn through anymore as u melt piston earlier. Justin is going to test it. If it works then marvelous. I have couple options to try as well, different thicknesses, without the metal sheets from the sides etc.

I have read past 2 years almost all threads about IDIs, I have it now for 10 days in front of my house and I want to contribute to the comunity and hopefuly move the platform forward. However sometimes it is tries with errors down the road involving research before u get fruits out of it. It is just beginning, we need to wait for the results with calm heads.

I did not give up the MLS gaskets, but it involves money to put in it and still then it will be expensive, not for everyone.

PS: Sorry for the terminology, it is over the school english lessons, I appologize for that. But slowly getting better.

That's a pic of the stuff Romel77 is talking about having the gaskets made from... Its a high temp, easy sealing gasket...

He is also looking at making the Fire-ring bores round so that it will make O-ringing them more effective by being able to smash the fire-ring, instead of just backing them laterally.

Awesome info! With the fire rings and that type of gasket, the block would still just be grooved correct? The issue would still be with machining the precups even with the new gasket fire shape? Sorry if its a dumb question. I'm not super knowledgeable about that stuff. Lol

Well I hope we will not need oringing the firerings, that is basicaly what the both sides steel sheets are for. Plus the regular gasket material is rated around 400 Celsius, so if the head is lifted slightly it burns quick and then firering colapses as it does not have support. This stuff is rated peak to 1000 Celsius, so even if we lift head, I do not think it will damage the core material, plus it is shielded from both sides with the steel, which supports the firering from the inside as well. The theory works, lets see the reality.

I would be interested in a thicker head gasket set. Maybe two sets, but I really don't want to pull the heads on my van. I need to reseal the engine currently in my truck, I think I popped an exhaust rocker off the other day so now I am leaning towards head-off exploratory surgery to make sure there isn't any damage. I am also planning a cam since the lifters clack pretty bad, so might as well upgrade all of it at once.

Once the first set is made for testing and I verify everything seems ok and Justin prooves them good, the next step will be the thicker 3mm gasket for decompresing the engine, the problem is the thicker u go the more likely it may colapse, I think the way is to make a kind of sandwich of the reinz extreme and sheets of metal. Give me time, I find the solution.

The gaskets should be ready for pick up next week, talked to the guy today, however I do not have time to pick them up, so the week after that I have a week off work soo I pick them up and ship them to Justin. Quite looking forward how it will look and more how it will hold on the engine when we throw serious boost on them.

Hopefully it works. I imagine Justin can throw some serious pressure in the motor if they will hold
