I finally got my truck back running good, so now I'm looking to upgrade a few things. Want to dump the clutch fan and go to electric setup. Will also be removing the smog pump and installing underdrive pulleys set when I do this. Question is, what fans have other people used, is there a good setup with shroud that I may be able to snag at the junk yard? Thanks guys, BTW it's an 87 with 5.0 and c6

I've been researching and gathering parts for this for a while now. I decided on the 3.8l Taurus fan that comes with the shroud. I bought mine new for $67.00 I think and it has a lifetime warranty. I have pretty much decided on how I'm going to mount it as well which had me stuck for a week or two thinking about it since I've never done this before and the info out there is limited from what I found. The other threads mentioned are good go to reads for sure but I've found that not two fans are mounted the same. You pretty much have to figure it out yourself with the help of others ideas. Sorry for the length (that's what I always have to tell my gf too btw) but hopefully this is helpful to you.
My 351w radiator is about 18" tall and 27" wide. The taurus fan is 17" tall if I remember right so that nearly covers all the radiator from top to bottom. The Taurus shroud is roughly 22" wide so that covers nearly all the width of the radiator too but I'm going to attach a few inches sheet metal on the sides and center the fan then that will be 99% coverage of the entire radiator. Then to attach the fan to the radiator I'm going to use these brackets from Summitt called "Scott Drake brackets". They attach to the original holes in the radiator support and allow you to attach to the new fan w/ their provided hardware. I will probably just drill holes in the shroud edging if the tabs won't line up and use this cheap kit for mounting hardware. That should about cover it on how I'm going to be doing it. Hope this helps you out. Here are the brackets and mounting hardware I plan to use.

23.1 x 19.5 x 5.2 are the specs for the Taurus efan.
And google says it flows 2500cfm...can anyone confirm this?
And how are you hooking up a controller?

Reason: extra question
I could have swore I measured my fan from top to bottom and it's 17" and covers the shroud but it is after market or maybe I just am remembering 17" but I didn't include the mounting tabs on the measuring and they are probably at least 1" tall each. And the stock radiator is about 27" wide is what I meant. The Taurus shroud is I thought about 22" wide. There are some tabs on the side of that too so 23.1" is probably all of that included.
I can't confirm the exact cfm but it's a lot and plenty for our trucks. Just make sure you get a 2 speed one not a 1 speed.
Haven't figured that out yet with the controller. I PMd a member on here about that and waiting for his response but any other advise on how that is done is appreciated.

Reason: grammar correction
I went with a flex a lite dual fan on my 95 it came with a controller . But there up there in price on my 92 I got the fan out of a mid 90s mustang with the 5.0. It fit perfect I just went too the part store and go a 20 dollar torqueflo controller

You may be right, I just pulled the specs off of a parts program, not in person. So I am sure they are including the tabs and everything in the measurement.
