Here's a couple you missed:
The first digit of the VIN is the country of origin. 1 = USA / 2 = Canada / 3 = Mexico.
At one time, the North American parts content (includes Canada, but not Mexico) of the Tundra was higher than the F150.
The F150's A/T is cast in Mexico, the Fusion is assembled in Mexico. The Edge and Flex are assembled in Oakville Ontario Canada as are the rebadged Lincoln versions.
Meanwhile, you're shopping for clothes, electronics and etc. Where are most made? Asia!
On the flip side, I have my Fiesta from Bob Thomas Ford North in Fort Wayne, and mostly serviced by Bob Thomas Ford West. My experience is well known for the transmission being an issue, as it was for most Fiesta drivers. All trips in for repair result in me arranging my own transportation, my "loaner" option is a free ride to enterprise. And I have a car, that after 6 different software flashes, and a refusal to repair due to being "within parameters" drives the worst of any vehicle I've ever driven, and sadly, I own it. My pushing with customer service only got me a letter stating that grinding and shuddering are normal noises and experiences for this type of car. I have had two separate occasions of people at intersections asking what was wrong with my car because it's making all kinds of grinding noises as I slow down, like some inexperienced teen that doesn't know how to shift. And when it's hot, like today, the car doesn't like 1st gear, so you may only be able to leave an intersection in 3rd gear and hope you get going fast enough that the people behind you don't catch up.
Dealer experience is worth A LOT. And at this point, the dealer has pretty much convinced me to not even look at the new F-150. I mean I like their looks, but Ford doesn't seem to be dealing as much on price as the others, and my only choice is to buy from Bob Thomas Ford (who owns the nearest 6 dealerships). If something goes wrong with a 40K truck, I can only imagine how they will treat me.
I know my Edge was made in Canada, I even mention that in this thread. I think I also mentioned when I get a new one, it will be made in Canada. I did not say I would exclude any product made in any other country. I am all for a global economy, however, I do like it when I can buy American (or at least partly Americain).
BTW, my whole surround sound system in my family room was Made In America.
As I recall, the Regal is based off the Opel Senator and the Saturn version was the Aura.
