easy question

I noticed that I get a little smoke when I pound the pedal, just for a second. Is that normal? Otherwise, truck running great.

Does it do it when you ease into the pedal?

Mine does the same thing, but I am running an SRL and Atlas 40 tune combo.

Not at all. Mine is all stock and don't think the previous owner downloaded a tune to it, but I wouldn't have anything to compare to.

hmm, OK. Is that something that needs to be fixed, or the turbo cleaned? Maybe I wait until it gets worse? I baby this truck around so I rarely pound the pedal. Never noticed it when I was pulling a heavy trailer, even up a hill - guess I don't try to accelerate real fast doing that, just long and steady.

Your engine is stock and black smoke is the first indication the turbo is lagging behind. Pull it off and inspect it. I see you are EGr delete

Apologize for not being a tech - when I inspect, what am I looking for?

LOL, you've apparently not followed my posts here. I would have to pay someone for them to let me work on their truck.

If you don't work on the truck then you might have a trusted shop in your area clean the turbo if this has never to your knowledge been done. Most likely the unison ring is rusted or you have an early 06 late 05 turbo that may not have the relief cut. When the turbo sticks, the boost is slow to respond allowing a whiff of black smoke. Neglect, it could turn into an over-boost or under boost. Under boost is not desirable when merging into traffic, over boost can do funny things and cost money.
