Posted this on my usual '87-'96 forum, until a poster alerted me to the fact that all but the '96's are OBD1, not OBDII.
Wondering if any of you have used any of these things, and if so, which you would recommend. Found this one for $99 and it seems to give quite a lot of useful info, should your truck start to malfunction. Things like ignition timing, fuel pump pressure, intake manifold pressure, air flow rate, etc. What do you think? https://www.microdaq.com/davis-carch...ata-logger.php
SHO89, I think he means he was asking the 87-96 guys about an OBDII unit, then decided it was better to ask here as they don't use the II............ along those lines, I also have a "basic code reader" that tells me what codes are when I get the "light"...... I see a lot of guy here talking about running the truck and getting voltage readings and comparing curves... not sure mine does that much.
Those that use more expensive code readers, what brand do you use, and would do you see an advantage to one like joe lists above ......... as compared to a static reader ?
Personally I wouldn't get that 99 dollar one. The one I have is from O'Reallys' and it cost 80 bucks I think. Works fine for me. I think the ones that read fuel trims and live data and all that are 400 and up. Too much for this carpenter who fixes his own stuff. Plus I don't have to plug it in to my 'puter to see whats up.
