High Output Heater Option
My next brain storm, I looked at where used on line for that after market heater core. This listed Torino, Galaxy, Mustang, Wagons, etc. So I looked on Ebay to see what I could find. The High Output truck boxes do show up from time to time but they are sort of rare.
I figured I may be able to convert a similar heater box that already had the larger core.
Here is what I ended up with 71 Mustang for $20 without the core or motor.
And some easy changes and I was done.
The Fiber Looking Box is from the 71 Mustang, where as the smoother box is from the 79 F series.

73 - 79 Std. Vs High Output Heater Cores
79 Truck Top, 71 Mustang Bottom. Noted mounting is different. Easy fix use truck plate.
71 Mustang Top, 79 Truck Bottom
71 Mustang Top, 79 Truck Bottom. Note Hot cold Door and Cable Bracket differences.
71 Mustang Top, 79 Truck Bottom. Note Injection Molded verses Compression Molded Fiber Filled Material.
Reinforcing Brackets to hold Fresh Air Vent Bolted in at left. I did use some lithium grease to make the doors move easier because the original 71 had wht. grease on all the door travels.
All Done Clear coated, Bolts and nuts to keep plate together. Note 2 additional bolts to the right of the heater core cover.
Cable bracket and door swapped from truck. Note extra terminal on resistor card, not used, goes to the motor on older cars. Newer harness is part of main harness instead of a separate wire. Original floor diffuser (outlet not shown) lines up no problem.
1. Does the Mustang and truck heater cases use the same blower motor?
2. Have you mounted this into your truck, if so any issues?
