If it's a Copper/Brass Rad. I'd say pull it and send it to a radiator shop. Copper/brass rads are pricey.
If you switch to aluminum, a good quality AL rad will also cost a good penny.
Kind of a sidebar Q, has anyone had corrosion issues running a AL rad in their truck?
Does anyone run a zinc Anode in their cooling system?
I would find out what exactly is wrong with your radiator first. Missing coolant + blown intake gasket could be where the 2 gal of antifreeze went, which would have nothing to do with the radiator. Radiators don't just stop working, if it's clogged it can be cleaned, if it's got a leak it can be repaired (unless it's a bad one, but I think you would have noticed that),, that's really all that can be wrong with it. If you have the means, go ahead and get a new one,, but personally I'd want to know why first.
