I have an 81 f150 with a 300 l6 and the radiator is cracked in the middle somewhere and I was wondering if it could be rebuilt? I want to get it running and sell it to start my 78 f250 project. How much would it cost to get it rebuilt? it an awsome truck, good milage, good power, just runs good.
If you have a good radiator repair place, they may be able to do it, usually if brass. Aluminum radiators are tougher, and I'm not entirely sure if they get fixed or not. End caps, yes, but not sure about the cores.
If you're so inclined, check prices for a new radiator from your local auto zone etc. I had a pinhole leak in the middle of my radiator (80 F-150 302) and the local shop wanted $150 to attempt the repair. They said they would fix it until the leak stopped. Ha freakin' Ha, I don't think so, scooter. I got a new radiator for mine from autozone for $170.
For what its worth,I checked with a friend that owns a radiator shop locally on the price of a new radiator for my truck on Friday. He can get me a new HD unit for $115.00 plus tax.I install it.Time to get.If I tell him I want it Monday AM,I will have it at the latest,Tuesday AM.
