We have a '99 Explorer AWD with the 5.0 and the 4R70W transmission. This morning the "OD off" light started blinking. I looked it up in the owners manual and it said "see your tech" or something like that. I drove it on the freeway and the only thing I can see different is the RPMs are a couple of hundred more @ the same speed. It shifts fine. I put a couple of quarts of fluid in it just to be sure. The white plastic stick is hard to read. Does anyone know what the problem can be before I take it to my repair guy? Thanks.

That was a very, very bad idea. If it is overfilled it can cause a fire.

No, nobody knows what's wrong. The ONLY way to find out is to get the codes read. The places that read codes free CANNOT read these codes. Your repair guy can if he has the right tools. If he doesn't, he most likely can't fix this.
Update. Monday afternoon, after driving it all day, the blinking stopped and the light went off. I'm pretty sure the lockup is working. I'm still going to get the codes read if they're still in the computer
