Dampner center bolt torque spec

I had my dampner reconditioned. Does anyone have a number for the amount of torque to put on the center retaining bolt after I've pressed the dampner onto the crankshaft with an installation tool?

One thing too, you'll never reach the 90 ft lbs unless and until the damper is fully seated on the crank snout. Sometimes it's hard to tell but this is one way to be certain and the pulleys will be all lined up.

So I got the dampener to 80 but by then I was about an 1/8 in inside the water pump pulley. The alternator is on a "custom" bracket that has that pulley back about a 1/4" back from the dampener. Belt stays on but now I know why spare belt was in the glove box.

Hm, everything should line up nice. Must have been some non standard parts used somewhere along the line, i.e. pulleys or brackets?

So the water pump pulley is about 1/8" in front of the crank pulley and the alternator pulley is about 1/4" behind the crank pulley? That's pretty bad.

You might be able to use washers to space out the alternator bracket. The pump pulley is either the wrong one (wrong offset) or the flange on the water pump has shifted - you'll need to correct the flange position or get a correct pulley.

The car water pump and pulley is a direct swap as a unit. It will have a 5/8" shaft and the pulley should measure about 2" from the pump flange to the center of the groove. This is a very common mounting pattern, so any one of quite a number of incorrect pulleys can be installed.

The truck pump / pulley has a 3/4" shaft and is a little deeper but I don't have that measurement handy.

Well at 80 ft lbs the damper (probably) still isn't completely seated on the crank snout. Basically, if the damper bolt is still turning it ain't done yet. That's what I was getting at earlier.
