Hey guys, I know this subject has been beat to death. But I wanted to get everyone's opinion one last time. I'm buying a 2008 f450. Gonna do the DPF And EGR delete as soon as I get it. What is the best tuner and name brands of delete kits that you recommend. I've heard a lot of talk about the mini max. But I'm not looking to tune the motor up to produce crap loads of power. I'm looking for reliability. So what do you recommend I use for trouble free reliability? The truck is gonna be a family used fifth wheel puller, I just need the truck to be reliable and trouble free.
I'm moving this to the 6.4L forum, you should get some better responses down there. If reliability is your goal I wouldn't recommend deleting and tuning. Others will disagree with me though.
I've gone back and forth on this so much it drives me crazy. I'm getting older and the days of building stupid power have left me. Lol. I just need a reliable truck that will pull my fifth wheel down the road and keep my family safe.
If you just want to delete the DPF and add no power, the Gearbox DPF-r I hear is the easiest and cheapest way to go. Personally I like IDP and Gearhead Tunes on my SCT Livewire.
It's one of those things you only want to do once. That's why after inquiring of several sources, I went right up and just bought the Mini Maxx.
I have never put mine up to the highest settings, but I like how it's just installed, it has defuel settings and such...it's always there, it always works.
I don't know anything about other tuners. For the price difference I am certain there are viable options.
Anything that gets the DPF off a 6.4 is more reliable than stock. I would do an SCT X4 with Innovative or Gearhead tunes. Spartan is about to release new equipment and support at the start of August. May want to check that out.
If you want reliable and some more power H&S or Spartan are both good. Most certainly get rid of the DPF. DPF is the number one reason these engines end up with a short life.

I built our 210HP Tow Performance file specifically for heavy loads with the 6.4L powertrain, and all testing was done by me with a 27,000lb load. (21,000lb excavator, 6000lb gooseneck)
Our 210HP and 210HP TP files are some of our most popular, and have been proven over time since their release in 2009 to be bulletproof.
