Quick easy question
did not dump it in so that it mixed. I would then very carefully
move things so that you can get to the bottom hose and use a
heater hose clamp to seal the hose and then remove the spring
clamp holding it onto the bottle and dump what is in the bottle out.
Just to be safe clean the bottle and put back together and refill.
The ideal tool for this.
If you nave a needle nose locking pliers and some rubber hose you can make a
good subtute. Use any small hose to cover the sharp edges of the jaws so you
can clamp the hose without cutting it. I used to make my own this way and it
would not damage even the soft hoses.
Just cut the hose your going t ouse and slide onto the jaws and you have a smooth
clamping surface. Also you don't have to go super tight. Just enough so the hose your
clamping does not leak.

Gotta travel tomorrow and Monday, but I need this truck for Tuesday and didn't have time to do all the soap flushing process.
Water 1.0
Ethylene Glycol 1.125
Motor oil ~0.90 (depending on grade)
Motor oil will always stay at the top as its lighter so unless it is violently mixed in a running engine you should be able to siphon off the majority of the oil with a turkey baster as long as there was some coolant in the degas bottle. Then just pull the degas bottle and wash it out with soap and water.
Same is true when people put motor oil or power steering fluid in a master cylinder reservoir. As long as there was fluid in the reservoir the oil will stay up top. More so with brake fluid as like coolant its ethylene glycol and a spec gr of 1.125.
1 it Keeps the oil in the bottle while your dealing with it.
2 it keeps coolant in the engine so it not running out
when you pull the bottle.
Not sure how it was put in so it's best to think it was
poured in and may of carried down to the lower edge
of the bottle. It will come back up over time but you
might have some that is sticking to the walls.
Don't forget I am trained in an industry that when you mix
things that are not compatible really bad things can happen.
Case in point. They no longer media blast the transmission
components of the Chinook helicopter do to problems with stuff
in places where it does not belong.
Always error on the side of cation.

Also found an O'Reilleys with Zerex coolant brought it home and compared it to the stuff in the unlabled Zerex jug that I poured in my degas bottle and to some new Rotella. The unlabeled stuff smells like coolant, not oil. I think what happened is that it thickened up some from sitting outside in the hot sun for a long time (several months). It looked like Zerex, but poured like oil.
But, I siphoned it out with the turkey baster, took off the tank and washed it out. So, now I'm ready to fill'er back up, right?
Wrong. Since my last Bonehead stunt proved to not be so bad, I needed to pull another Bonehead stunt to make up for it.
Somehow, in pulling the degas bottle or putting it back on just as it got dark Saturday night I pulled the lower hose off the the plastic Ypipe right below the degas. How I didn't notice at the time, I haven't a clue, but it was almost dark and I quit right there since I didn't have any coolant to fill with.
Can't get back to it until this evening, again right at dark. I pour about half the bottle of coolant in before I hear it dripping on the ground.
So, anyway, my question. It was too dark and I was frustrated, so I didn't examine it closely. Is the big hose that comes off the bottom of the degas bottle and goes to that plastic Ypipe made into the Ypipe or can that clamp holding it be loosened and retightened to separate the pipe from the tube. I ask because they look like they are not supposed to come apart. Don't know if I need to buy a new Ypipe assembly or just reconnect the hose to the ypipe.
